The children, although a little apprehensive at first, got stuck in and handled scorpions, snakes, frogs and a host of other animals. The children had a great afternoon and many thanks to essa for the invitation.

The heart is located in the left hand side of your chest and the rib cage keeps the heart protected. The heart has four chambers, the left atrium, right atrium, left ventricle and right ventricle. The heart beats about 100,000 (km) times each day. Every heart weighs like two apples. Did you know your heart beats 35 million times a year.

Your bodies are really special and you need to look after your bodies to keep healthy. Your heart , made of muscle , pumps blood around your body via blood vessals ( tubes.) Blood carries oxygen to the parts of the body that need it .

Your heart is about the same size as your fist . In most adults it beats about seventy times a minute ( 70 BPM. )Docters examine your heart by taking the pulse ( to see how fast its beating .) Heart disease is the number one killer in the western world.

Your lungs recieve the air you breathe in through your nose . From the air they take the usefull part and convert it for use in the body. The blood swaps carbon dioxide ( the waste material ) for oxegan in the lungs . You have two lungs , your lungs are protected by the ribcage .

Blood goes round our bodies via the heart . The heart sends blood to the lungs first to collect oxygen from the air that we have just breathed in then then it goes to where its needed .

When you excersise , parts of your body need an increased blood supply so your heart beats faster .
