Tuesday … AGAIN

As the sun goes down and the moon is rising something else is rising as well.. Mice squeak a the floor falls further away. Out of the window they flew.

Above the puny houses, they flew, in search with on thing on their mind.CHEESE! Luckily there was a cheese factory near by. The mice swam taking big gulps of the cheese while doing the mousey paddle. After nearly exploding there little (but now fat) bodies they thought a nice rest would do them good.

Do you remember the old ladywhom had met the frogs? Well she was in for a even bigger suprise! They floated slowly into the house and sat on her lap , drank her coco and wachted “How to make the perfect cheese”. Soon the mice left leaving cheese on her remote!

An interview with Mrs Bailey. By Amy

Eventually when I woke up, I saw a few toads flyi- oh, what am I on about, just a few hundred thousand there were. I had to gasp to get my breath back. Just to make sure I weren’t dreaming, I went to get my glasses case to clean my glasses but it wasn’t even there. Dazzled, I looked around the room trying to take a glance at where I could have put them earlier on.

I’m telling you young dear, my eyes are not what they seem. I can see a whale from a mile or two. Quickly, I darted into the kitchen to fetch a walking stick. When my foot took one step into the living room again, they had dissapeared one by one out the open window.

It got to me just then that before I accidently dozed off  I’d opened the window as I was roasting because the sun was burning through my gleaming windows.

One toad would just not leave my messy, tortured house. I sumg at it with my stick and it just missed as the toad swooped down low and bounced off the slimy walls. It wanted to play tig with me I assumed. So I set off on the speed walking which I’d practiced with my 7 year old granddaughter at the weekend when she’d visited me.

Dangerously, it charged around my house, knocking pictures, shelves, lamps and tables to the ground with a crash and a bang. I only just managed to whack it one with my stick which sent it weeping out the window.

I banged the window shut and went to comfort Tibbles. It was all I could do officer, he was shaking with fear. Then I just went back to sleep and pretended that nothing had happened.

“My Witness Interview” By Alice

My task was to write a witness interview with the police. I hope you enjoy it and could you comment on my post to tell me if I could improve anything, thanks :)

Sitting alone in my ancient living room, I was watching my favourite tv show ‘Deal or No Deal’ (I do love that Noel Edmonds, don’t you?) when I presumably dosed off at around half pat eight.

It must’ve been an hour later at half nine when I was woken up by a large BANG! I could not believe it! My favourite lamp I got when it was my wedding day in the summer of 1927 had been smashed to pieces! Now, I know you may think I’ve gone nuts when I say this but I swear I saw one hundred ugly toads swarming around me! Slowly rising from my beautiful arm chair, I travelled to the kitchen to grab a broom. Consequently, because I had taken too long to get the broom, the toads had vanished.

There were a couple of things I noticed that had changed since I fell asleep. Firstly, my beloved Deal or No Deal had been changed to MTV on the tele, and someone called Nicki Minaj (what a silly name)  was singing about ‘Starships’, I have to say she wasn’t very good either! Also, my remote had been sprayed with sticky goo and had spread into the battery compartment so I couldn’t change the channel as you can’t do it on the TV. That reseolved in me having to watch MTV all night.

All in all, I have come to hate toads as well as MTV too. So has Tibbles (the cat). Life’s not fair soemtimes, I suppose you just need to get on with it.

My Witness Statement.By Kate

In class we were set a task to write a witness statement for a lady called Mrs Bailey. This is mine…

Sleeping soundly,I sat on my armchair whilst my favourite show, emmerdale, was playing. It was quiet in the room but I didn’t know what was happening.Well, then I heard a big bang and with a jerk and a jump I saw large green creatures floating around. Now I know my eyes aren’t very good but I’m telling you something was there.I noticed that Emmerdale had been changed to MTV.It wasn’t me because I only listen to classical music. Then,I saw the slime on the remote and I knew that the toads,or frogs. I tried to shoo them away but they wouldn’t budge.Wanting a broom,I stormed into the kitchen and grabbed one from the cupboard.

I came back in and noticed that they had all gone. Feeling really upset,I saw that they had smashed my favourite lamp. Flabbergasted at the mess they had made,I picked up the broken pieces of china. That was my best lamp. It was a present for my birthday off my husband who, later that day, was took into hospital with a lung problem and two days later he died.

Weeping sadly,I threw the pieces in the bin. The TV was starting to annoy me as this person called Nicki Minaj (what a silly name) was singing, speaking actually, absolutely terribly. I hated the toads and I still do. My cat always checks downstairs before he goes to sleep.

An intervew with mrs baker by Renee

Needing to be cheered up , because today was the day to get Misty (  my cat ) her injections I terned on my antic television to watch my favourate show Eastenders. WhileI was watching television I felt cold so I grabbed my blancket and fell asleep. Suddenly I awoke three hours later to see my cowsy living room was full of emerald green pond creatures I screemed but not one moved.Running for the kitchen, I slipped on a puddle of slime and stood on Misty’s tale.

Perplexed of what was happening to my lovely house, I went back into my living room and they were gone at eleven minutes past three. Suddenly something caught my eye. There was writing on my wall saying TOADS RULE PEOPLE DROOL!

My cat has not been eating her food since. However, If you pay for my walls I will not sue.

Mrs Bailey’s statement to the police by Aaminah

Sitting alone in my ancient green arm chair, I was watching my favourite show (which only comes on,on Tuesday)on my cheap TV.Suddenly I dozed off for about an hour or more and when i woke up and saw dozens of green spots I squinted my eyes thinking that it would make it more clearer. However,no luck,I could still see dozens of huge spots.

Taking my glasses off, I now saw more spots but now it looked like toads I was petrified I  couldn’t believe my eyes.I blinked several times but nothing happened. They were watching a horror film so I went in front of them and they all started to stare at me.It was like they were hypnotized they didn’t even blink.

At 10:30 this all happened.Despite the fact I was 69 years old, I still frantically ran to the kitchen but unfourtunately on the way I slipped on a slimy lily pads I fell on my back and I probaly have several bruises.Eventually I got up and carried on going to the kitchen.I grabbed my broom from the corner of the room. However, when I got back the disgusting toads were gone leaving their lily pads and slime all over the remote control. My cat, called Sweety, had been underneath the table all this time.

Target Work By Caitlin.

This is my target work.

As the clock strook 12 the midnight desaster began,I must have dosed off because I was supposed to be feeding Puss Puss.(my cat) It  was him who woke me up in the first place and I’m jolly glad he did.To tell the truth I never even noiticed until I had fed Puss Puss.Suddenly I noticed Puss Puss wasn’t hungary at all, well he was but the real reason he woke me up was because of the frantic toads.Hurrying to the kitchen,I grabbed sevral buckets of water to help shoo them away.Unluckaly those tortoras toads catapulted my gorges Puss Puss out of the window so I had to bangage his leg up.He’s not allowed out for a week now poor Puss Puss he’ll never be the same, until next year anyway.

* My Witness Inteview * By Kira Spedding

We have been doing very interesting work. We are working on the book  ” TUESDAY ” It is very interesting and we have been told to pretend that we are Mrs Bailey and we have done very fantastic pieces of work. It is including our targets and exceeding targets. Thjis is my story.

Young man i will tell you everything. Just about to doze off when I switched over the television, no i tried to, anyways the television let off sparks , real sparks , flying up as high as my ceiling. It gave me a shock. One world. One sun. One Moon. And thousands of toads! I quietly dozed off in a quarter of a second.

Noises, noises thumping. I woke up with a fright. I saw. Oh i saw about 298751 toads high in the sky of my living room. Frantically, i scurried into my kitchen and fell. Not able to move i tried i tried so hard to find the zapper, no not the television remote the phone to ring 781, sorry my mind is messed what i meant to say was 999 to ring for an ambulance.

Having decided, i grabbed the brush or broom ( i cant remember which one ) But before my eyes I didn’t seem to see them anymore. Vanished they had.

They left a green sticky substance all over my favorite trophy from when i was younger. Oh when i was younger. The good times. My trophy was for swimming. Best swimmer in great britain. Tried out for Olympics in 1992 when i was awfully younger. I’m sorry but i have no other information for you. Young man was that enough for you?

This was my favorite piece of writing of year 5 I do hope that you liked it I had lots of fun writing this it was truly truly fun. I hope you can comment.

Wallace and Gromit – The turbo diner By Kynan

First you place a coin into the meter then sit down , relax and let the machine do all the work.

When you sit on the chair and are strapped in then pulled to the table by some rope. This causes a large , heavy , bronze machine lowers from the ceiling and using 600 horse power suction the machine , well , sucks up all the mess on the table.

After that the machine comes down further causing it to touch the table. As a result a red glow comes from the machine which means that it is heating up the food. Soon after it the machine raises from the table leaving a lovely spread (food).

Finally a flamethrower brings down the candle and flame throws onto the candle causing it to be lit. The flamethrower rises leaving you to eat.

How to get ready in a minute!!!by Kirsty

How does the child wake up?(Stage 1-Wake up)

When the clock strikes eight the colossal bell would ring and then suddenly, the bed springs up rapidly and will throw the child into the bath. Now the child is ready for stage 2.

How does the machine bath the child?(Stage 2- bath time)

As the child has been thrown in the bath, he will then turn the cog which is next to the bath. This causes the machine to start working and water will start to fall into the bath. If the child want’s shampoo, then he will have to turn the cog faster. Soon the shampoo will squirt onto the child’s head. Then the mechanical hands will massage the child’s head. After the massage the machine will rinse and dry the child’s hair and body. Now he is ready for stage three.

How does the child get dressed?(Stage 3- Getting dressed)

When the child is dried he is then dressed. So then he will need to put his arm’s up in the air, then the machine’s hands will pick up the T.Shirt and slip it down the child’s body. After, the mechanical hands will then put the child’s pants on. Finally the machine will then put the child’s shoes on and tie his shoe laces. Now the child is ready for the next stage.

How does the child get fed?(Stage 4- Breakfast)

Once the child is dressed, they sit down for breakfast. In order to make the machine work, the child must peddle the peddles. When the machine starts moving, the wheels start to turn and this causes the wheels to crash into each other. Then the milk and cereal pours into the funnel and into the bowl. As the cereal and milk is poured into the bowl, the mechanical arm picks up the spoon and feeds the child. Meanwhile the other hand brushes the child’s hair. The third hand massages the child’s back. Now the child is ready for the next stage.

How the child gets to school?(Stage 5-Go to school)

As the child sit’s on the stool, immediately the machine will then put the backpack’s onto the child’s back. Next the stool will fling up and fling the child up in the air and out of the door.

My Homework ! By Kira

Our task was to write a short story on a picture of a helicopter of a man on a ladder hanging down from the ladder and a shark jumping out of the water.

The noise echoed across the sea as a helicopter hovered effortlessly over the Pacific Ocean. Its noise was so hurrendous that I couldn’t hear myself breathe. Suddenly a shark appeared out of nowhere. One of the rescue people was dangling on the ladder. As soon as the person spotted the shark, with its razor sharp teeth and its mouth as big as a football pitch. The man tried to climb up the ladder.  But there was no luck….

The man sliped because his hands were soo slippy with fear. He slipped down into the sharks mouth. In the sharks mouth it was slippy and slimy. The man punched the inside of the shark, and suddenly he was never to be seen again…

PLEASE COMMENT.

The Deadly Shark By Lucy P.

A diver was swimming in the rough sea when suddenly a great white shark appeared close to her.She was terrified.Luckily, a    coastguard nearby saw her in distress, with the shark close, and came to the treacherous scene. The coastguard called for help from the helicopter, whilst  trying to keep the shark from attaking the frightened diver. When the helecopter arrived , they lowered the ladder so that the diver could climb to safety. As the terrified women began to climb, the shark lanched it self out of the sea trying to bite her.She attempted to shield herself behind the ladder as she climbed. The shark knoked the diver off the ladder and back into the water.Lukily, a trust coastguard was close enogh to snatch her out to saftey.

The shark was guided by conservationists back out to sea, were it swam away .

The Shark tale by Aaminah

Yesterday a local group of boys,aged 19-22 went out surfing when athey experienced a surprise attack. One of the boys Andrew Thornton aged 19 was about to come to land when an astonishing incident occured.

When Andrew was coming to land a shark,15 feet long came face to face with Andrew. The witnesses, William Thompson aged 20 and Matthew Peters aged 22 were on shore watching in horror and realized what was happening and immeaditely called the rescue service. The rescue service arrivied within minutes.Andrew was relived to be air lifted out of the water. When Andrew was being lifted the shark attempted to attack Andrew but luckily he escaped with only a few minor bruises. He later said he was very grate ful to the rescue sevice,as he would not survive without their prompt attention. He was quick to add although it was a terrifying experience and that he will never forget it,this will not put him off doing the activity he so loves.Experts said it was unusual for a shark that size to swim in these waters and Andrew was very lucky to escape.

A SHARK EXIT: My Newspaper Report By Alice

A daring air-sea rescuer saved a panicking swimmer from a man-eating shark off the coast of Blackpool today. Katy Jones (aged 10) had been playing on her lilo near the shore when a gust of wind blew her out to sea.

The ten year old said “One minute I was paddling in the sea shore, next minute me and my lilo were blown out to sea. I was petrified!”

Worried onlookers on the beach immediatly called the coast gaurd, who sent for the air-sea rescue team.

Helicopter pilot Dave Butler stated “As soon as we knew a child was in trouble at sea, the crew headed off to the rescue. However, little did we know the danger had not even begun.”

As the crew began the rescue, they became aware that a menace lurked under the waves.

“I felt so relieved to see the helicopter coming, I hadn’t noticed the black shadow beneath me.” said Katy. “The man on the winch told me to keep looking at him in the eye. Just as he plucked me from the water, the shadow lunged up bearing its deadly teeth.”

Katy had narrowly escaped the clutches of a rare visitor to British seas. The ten year old was badly shaken by her ordeal but was pleased to be back on dry land.

Katy’s mother Joyce said “We never imagined a family day out could be so dramatic! The rescue crew were so brave and we’re very grateful.”

Following the rescue, the coast guard’s boat chased the shark off into the open sea.

Year Five’s Explanation Work

Currently in Literacy, Year Five are revising the features of explanations. We are going to write an explanation to describe a very interesting machine.

Today, in pairs, we studied one part of the machine in detail and role played the performance. In order to do this, one child took the role of the child while the other was the machine.

These pictures show some snapshots of us rehearsing:

In our oral explanations, we had to incorporate four key success criteria:

  • Present Tense Verbs
  • Third Person Nouns and Pronouns
  • Time Connectives
  • Causal Connectives.

After rehearsing, we acted our stage in the process in front of the class:

My Description By Alice

For our homework last week we had to write a description. Here is mine:

As I’m walking through the ebony forest, I smell burning wood from the direction of the horizon. Crunching through the leaves, I search around seeing what I can find.

I can see something in the distance. Sneakily, creeping forward, I discover it is a baby unicorn. It is the most beautiful I have ever seen. With her/his shiny silver hair, and entwined single horn it is  so lovely. However, the bit I like best is the tail. The elongated, swishy tail. It is so wonderful! But then when I see her/his breath, I realize I am cold too. Somehow, I feel my spirits go down, as quick as lightning. On top of that, I am desperate for warmth.

The trees are staring down at me and making me feel petrified. Worried about all the noises I could hear (such as the squawking of the birds), I hugged myself even tighter than ever.

Shivering, I stroked the unicorn one last time, before rushing off in the leaves. Crunch, crunch, crunch…

Why You Should Use A Wii In Class. Lucy P

In year five we have been playing on a wii game called Wild Earth African Safari. While playing the game not just one person with the controls we had five groups such as ;googlers, photographers, descriptors, counters and spottersand note tackers.

I realley enjoyed doing these activities however, the group I was in didnt get to be photographers but I still enjoyed it. When the class were not playing the game, we did lots of writing about what they did on the wii and what they saw so, if they got chased by a lion, they would write about it.

We did some reasearch about the Serengeti and wrote about it in a report, also we did a diary entry about what we did in the Serengeti wii game and made it seem like real life. When we did our end product of our diary entry on a safari hat made from paper.I realley enjoyed this.

Wild Earth African Safari.By Caitlin.

Due to the fact we were on Wild Earth African Safari,we had the incredible chance to go on the Wii whilst doing unpredictable writing. We split into five groups of six which were called Photographers,Note Takers, Googlers,Descriptors and Spotters and Counters.

In the Photography group you have three minutes to get as many pictures as possible. They would be put in your recount of what happened.

As you might have guessed Note Takers is naturally taking notes that normally would get ignored.

Although Google is used a lot,Googlers allows you to research any unknown animals that the Potographers need a picture of.

As part of the Descriptors Group, you can take one whole hour if needed to describe the scene every now and again.

In Spotters and Counters you count all the animals you see and record them on a table.

You should use the Wii because it helped me to improve my writing skills and allowed have fun at the same time. The Wii is a game but a learning resorse aswell.

The Wii covers many diffrent subjects other than Litracy. It covers,I.C.T,Maths,Gograthy and other hidden subjects.I can garantee  that if you get Wild Earth African Safari 100% of your class will want to use it and will be fully engaged to thier learning. If I saw or heard of this I would defanetly ask my teacher if we could use it,don’t you agree.

Thank you for reading my post.

Please comment.

Wild Earth African Safari By Renee

The Wild Earth African Safari is perfect for schools around the world also very educational . By researching the par on the Internet , we wrote great reports about it . Every group had to write so many paragraphs .

We were split up into five groups of six .  The first group was the Photographers that had control of the Wii remote for three  minutes each . Next was Go0glers who googled up things that came up on the Wii .  After that came the Counters and Spotters who counted the animals that they saw on the Safari. Then came the Descriptors who would describe where we were. Last came the Note Takers that noted down the facts that the narrators said.

After playing the game we wrote amazing  Diary entries. Some of them are on display around the School. A few weeks later, we wrote a report about elephants.

This Wii game covers alot of other subjects than Literacy such as; Geography, Labelling a map of Africa, ICT by going on google and searching for animals and plants. Also, Numeracy by doing tally charts to count up all the animals we saw. In addition, the game is very factual because we learnt a male elephant are called a bull and females are called a cow.

I bet you  and your children will love this and they won’t even know they are learning. So, that is why you should use the Wild Earth African Safari Wii game.
